About the Role
This position is responsible for assisting instructors in the everyday operation of the laboratories ensuring that all laboratory equipment and supplies are prepared and set up for scheduled laboratory periods. Assists with laboratory demonstrations, provides assistance to students and maintains the facility, equipment and supplies.

Duties & Responsibilities
Prepares and assists with laboratory demonstrations, provides assistance to students and helps supervise laboratory activities. Responds to students’ inquiries pertaining to laboratory matters and related subject material, referring students to instructors as required. Supervises examinations as directed.
Performs a wide variety of tasks relative to the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies. Ensures that the laboratory premises are clean and orderly and that laboratory materials are stored properly.
Maintains safe conditions in the lab and classroom and works with hazardous materials in accordance with WHMIS requirements. Ensures safety labelling of chemicals and materials comply with WCB and WHMIS legislation.
Maintains inventory records. Monitors, orders and receives equipment and supplies.
Maintains and updates list of lab requirements and prepares required lab equipment/supplies as per scheduled lab classes. Receives and returns lab equipment/supplies.
Identifies lab issues and concerns and collaborates with instructors to identify solutions.
Maintains medication carts.
Maintains the lab schedule.
Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
BSc. Nursing and 5 years’ related experience and experience working with students in an educational setting or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.
Current practicing member of the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia.
Skills and Abilities
Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and faculty.
Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage several time-sensitive tasks at any given time. Works effectively in a demanding environment with a demanding workload.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of RN entry-level competencies.
Medical supply knowledge.
Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office and email.
