About the Role
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Family Physician with a strong background in musculoskeletal (MSK) medicine to join our clinical team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the diagnosis and non-surgical management of MSK conditions, with proficiency in ultrasound-guided intra-articular injections. Candidates with an additional background, training, or hands-on experience in dermatology/aesthetic medicine are equally welcome — this role can be filled by a physician with an MSK focus, an aesthetics/dermatology focus, or a combination of both.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with musculoskeletal conditions
• Perform ultrasound-guided intra-articular injections and, where applicable, ultrasound-guided biopsies
• Provide dermatology/aesthetic services where applicable (e.g., cosmetic injectables, minor skin procedures), depending on candidate background and experience
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support comprehensive patient care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with CPSA standards
Details
Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
Certification or eligibility with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP), or equivalent recognized certification for Board-Certified Family Physicians actively practicing in the United States
Eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) registration, or equivalent professional liability coverage
Demonstrated interest and expertise in musculoskeletal medicine
Proficiency in ultrasound-guided intra-articular injections
Experience with ultrasound-guided soft tissue/joint biopsies an asset
Background and/or hands-on experience in dermatology and aesthetic medicine (e.g., cosmetic injectables, skin procedures) considered a strong asset
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team
Experience with fluoroscopy-guided procedures considered an asset, though not required
