About the Role

Under the direction of the Kitchen Manager/Chef is responsible for serving
food in accordance with proper food service procedures, with an emphasis on
presentation; cleaning and setting up the dining room between meals, washing
dishes as required.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Kitchen Manager/Chef is responsible for serving

food in accordance with proper food service procedures, with an emphasis on

presentation; cleaning and setting up the dining room between meals, washing

dishes as required.


Confidentiality:

Maintains the confidentiality of information relating to residents, families,

colleagues, Hamilton High Street Residence’s operations, financial

arrangements and results.


Driver License: Not Required

Bonding: Not Required

Hours of Work:

Shift hours may vary throughout the week and include but are not limited to,

weekday hours, morning shifts, evening shifts, weekends and special events as

required.


Other: 1. Must be free from communicable diseases

2. Criminal record check – pre-employment

3. Emergency First Aid is an advantage


Education: 1. Must have a minimum Canadian grade 10 education or equivalent.

2. Must be able to read, write and comfortably communicate in English.

3. Must understand oral and written instructions.

4. Must be able to be trained in the safe handling of food and in proper food

service procedures.


Experience/Qualifications: 1. Restaurant or Hotel Server experience with POS system

2. Ability to speak Mandarin or Cantonese is a strong asset.

3. Ability to speak 2nd language is a strong asset, please indicate on your

resume if you are fluent in another language.

Must understand and perform fine dining services and other related procedures in a safe, professional, courteous,

efficient and organized manner.


Personal Characteristics:

1. A passion for providing excellent dining service.

2. Empathy for and understanding of the needs of seniors, their families and their professional service

providers.

3. Mature hospitality manner where residents are a priority and satisfaction a must.

4. Good health.

5. No allergies to cleaning chemicals.

6. Able to perform physical work, i.e. lifting, bending etc.

7. Must have a professional, welcoming, and positive attitudes.

8. Willingness and ability to learn safe and courteous food service.


Responsibilities and duties:

1. Provide excellent customer service to residents at meals using standard serving, clearing and food safe

practices. Provides dining room, catering, room service and guest meal service

2. Clean and set-up dining room prior to meal service and after meal service

3. Dish washing. Uses ECO-GREEN procedures to wash dishes

4. Clean up and clears beverage and snack service on second floor

5. Setting up and delivery of room service trays.

6. Provide feedback to onsite Chef on the resident satisfaction with the meal.

7. Avoid working while suffering from communicable diseases or infections.

8. Act in compliance with all public health regulations.

9. All other duties as directed by Manager.
