About the Role

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Lab Technician/Assistant to join our aesthetics clinic team, located in the heart of Fort McMurray, Alberta. This role plays a key part in supporting treatments such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy and related procedures, with a strong focus on phlebotomy and specimen processing.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform phlebotomy/venipuncture on patients for treatments such as PRP therapy
• Operate centrifuge equipment to process and prepare specimens (e.g., separating plasma components for PRP procedures)
• Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of collected specimens
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant lab work area
• Follow all clinic protocols and applicable regulatory standards for specimen collection and processing
• Assist clinical staff with related lab and procedural support as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation of specimen collection and processing activities
• Provide patients with clear pre- and post-procedure instructions related to blood draws

Details

  • Diploma or certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA), or equivalent, from a recognized program

  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA), or actively pursuing CMLTA registration; candidates must disclose their current registration/licensure status and any prior CMLTA assessments

  • Demonstrated phlebotomy experience with strong venipuncture skills

  • Experience operating centrifugation equipment for specimen/sample processing (e.g., PRP preparation)

  • Knowledge of proper specimen labeling, handling, and processing protocols

  • Strong understanding of infection control, biohazard handling, and safety standards

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in a clinical lab setting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for direct patient interaction during blood draws

  • Prior experience in an aesthetics, dermatology, or medical clinic setting an asset
